Panasonic Energy Co., Ltd., and Mazda Motor Corporation, have a signed an agreement for the supply of cylindrical automotive lithium-ion batteries. The two companies initiated discussions in June 2023, with the aim of establishing a medium- to long-term partnership for the supply of these batteries.
This comes hot on the heels of another announcement by Panasonic where they mentioned a similar partnership with Subaru:
Recent announcements by Panasonic have been hush-hush stating “Details regarding this partnership will be communicated at the appropriate time”, however, we are seeing upstream announcements about suppliers that will potentially be in those Panasonic cells such as Novonix for graphite supply
