CALSTART, a transportation accelerator, has launched a new program, Charge@Work, aimed at boosting electric vehicle (EV) adoption by expediting workplace charging rollout.
The program, backed by the United States Department of Energy, is supported by top brands such as IKEA, Siemens, Prologis, The Ohio State University, and Michigan State University, all of which are expanding their workplace charging infrastructure.
The Charge@Work program is designed to assist workplaces in planning, building, and implementing crucial EV infrastructure for employees nationwide. The program offers a free tool, the Charge@Work Project Builder, which guides users through the process of creating a workplace charging program, including things like determining the number of plugs to install, selecting the appropriate technology, estimating costs, and more. The program also provides free site assessments by workplace charging experts, identifies relevant federal and local incentives, helps create a site plan, identifies suitable technologies for individual workplaces, measures worker interest in EVs, and assists in creating a plug-share plan for workers.
