Beta Technologies, an electric aircraft manufacturer, has announced that its “Charge Cube” is now UL-certified. The Charge Cube is designed to efficiently recharge electric aircraft and electrified airport ground vehicles.
The Charge Cube features a 50-foot cord and CCS connectors, which are increasingly being adopted as the standard in electric aviation. This comes even as automakers are transitioning to Tesla’s rival design. The product’s design and functionality are aimed at meeting the growing demand for efficient charging solutions in the electric aviation industry.
Beta’s chargers have already been installed at over 20 airports across the nation, according to the company. Additionally, there are more than 50 “airports, heliports, and vertiports in development” that will feature Beta’s charging technology.
Apart from the Charge Cube, Beta is also developing a pair of next-generation electric aircraft. This aligns with the trend, exemplified by Tesla, of not only supplying electric vehicles but also providing the infrastructure necessary to keep them operational.
Chip Palombini, Beta’s head of charge product, commented on the certification, “To receive this certification from a nationally recognized lab like UL validates what all of us in this industry are working toward. It demonstrates that the technology is ready for the market, and our growing list of customers proves that the market is ready for this technology.”
