Amprius Technologies, Inc. announced they received the AS9100:2016 certification for its Fremont, CA production facility.
The certification, awarded by Smithers Quality Assessments, Inc., provides a framework for continuous improvement as Amprius supplies batteries to the growing electric aviation industry, contributing to the development of technologies such as eVTOLs, high-altitude pseudo satellites (HAPS), and drones.
The AS9100:2016 is an international standard for quality management systems specific to the aerospace sector, a version of the ISO 9001:2015 requirement to ensure products meet stringent customer and regulatory requirements. Amprius’ recently expanded Fremont facility underwent a rigorous evaluation process and audit to earn this certification. In addition, Amprius successfully renewed its ISO9001:2015 certification.

Amprius worked with Smithers Quality Assessments, an accredited quality and environmental registration agency, to achieve these certifications. Each certification is valid for three years.
The company’s commercially available SiMaxxTM batteries deliver up to 450 Wh/kg and 1,150 Wh/L, with third party validation of 500Wh/kg and 1,300 Wh/L. Amprius maintains an R&D lab and a MWh scale manufacturing facility for the fabrication of silicon anodes and cells at its corporate headquarters in Fremont, California. To meet customer demand, Amprius has leased an approximately 774,000 square foot facility in Brighton, Colorado and expanded its product portfolio to include the SiCoreTM platform.
