Bloomy Controls, Inc., a provider of automated test solutions, has announced the release of their new product, the Desktop BMS™ HIL Test System.
This battery-simulating test system is designed to increase the accessibility and convenience of hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing for EVs and eVTOLs.
The Desktop BMS™ HIL Test System is a compact and transportable version of Bloomy’s full and flex BMS HIL test systems. It simulates 12-36 battery cells, temperature sensors, and digital communications using real electronic signals.
In large applications, these signals simulate a centralized or distributed battery module to test the electronics and embedded software of any battery-sensitive electronic systems. In smaller applications, the system simulates the entire battery. Users can configure both manual and fully automated test scenarios, including simulated drive cycles and fault-case scenarios.
The system utilizes Bloomy’s Battery Simulator 1200, a battery cell simulator that has been in use for over a decade. This instrument has 12 simulated cells in a 1U package that sink and source current similar to a real battery. The system also features DSUB connectors and Bloomy’s BMS HIL Software Architecture for quick setup and configuration of test scenarios. Users can implement their own cell model or utilize Bloomy’s parametric 2nd-order equivalent circuit model.
